What is Setup Sandbox?

The Setup Sandbox skill is a foundational tool designed to scaffold the initial file system for a new sandbox environment. By integrating directly with the Recoup CLI, it fetches organization and artist metadata to build an opinionated folder hierarchy. This process ensures that every workspace starts with a standardized structure, reducing manual errors and preparation time when using Openclaw Skills for artist management.

This skill is particularly valuable when a sandbox has just been created and lacks a file system. It bridges the gap between the Recoup platform and your local or cloud-based coding environment by generating the necessary directories and identity files required for subsequent automation workflows.

Setup Sandbox Use Cases

  • Initializing a fresh sandbox repository with zero existing files.
  • Mapping complex Recoup account hierarchies into a local directory structure.
  • Preparing artist workspaces for detailed scaffolding and memory system injection.
  • Batch creating artist identity files to track setup status across large organizations.

How Setup Sandbox Works

  1. The skill checks for a RECOUP_ACCOUNT_ID environment variable to determine if an account flag is needed for CLI commands.
  2. It executes a command to list all organizations associated with the authenticated account in JSON format.
  3. For every organization found, it queries the CLI to retrieve a full list of artists.
  4. It creates a standardized directory path at orgs/{org}/artists/{artist-slug} for every artist retrieved.
  5. An identity file named RECOUP.md is generated in each artist folder, containing YAML metadata and a status marker.
  6. The skill automatically stages, commits, and pushes the new directory structure to the main git branch.

Setup Sandbox Setup

To use this skill, ensure you have the Recoup CLI installed and authenticated. If you are using an Org API Key, set your account ID as an environment variable.

export RECOUP_ACCOUNT_ID="your-uuid-here"
# Install the follow-up skill for artist scaffolding
npx skills add recoupable/setup-artist

Setup Sandbox Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill produces a hierarchical file structure and utilizes YAML frontmatter for metadata tracking.

File/Folder Purpose
orgs/ The root container for all organization-level data.
artists/ Sub-directory within an organization containing individual artist workspaces.
RECOUP.md The identity file tracking artistName, artistSlug, artistId, and setup status.

RECOUP.md Metadata Fields:

  • artistName: The display name of the artist.
  • artistSlug: Kebab-case version of the name used for the directory.
  • artistId: The unique UUID from the Recoup platform.
  • status: Tracking field (defaults to not-setup).

Setup Sandbox Advanced Features

  • Smart environment detection to toggle between Personal and Org API Keys.
  • Automated Git lifecycle management including add, commit, and push operations.
  • Integrated status tracking to identify which workspaces require further Openclaw Skills processing.
  • Opinionated directory scaffolding that enforces best practices for artist data isolation.
