What is sher-deploy?

sher-deploy is a lightweight, developer-focused CLI tool designed to streamline static site and frontend application previews. By analyzing your workspace configuration, it automatically detects popular frameworks like Vite, Next.js, and Astro, compiles the build files, and uploads the compiled assets to a temporary live preview URL without requiring user registration.

Optimized for developer agents and automated scripts, this package integrates seamlessly into Openclaw Skills and CI/CD pipelines. It empowers developers and artificial intelligence agents to demonstrate working UI features, verify production-ready builds, and share functional visual outputs programmatically in seconds.

sher-deploy Use Cases

  • Providing instant preview URLs for automated agents to showcase completed web layouts.
  • Sharing secure, temporary preview links with remote clients or internal QA teams.
  • Rapidly testing production builds of frontend apps locally before merging code.
  • Delivering password-protected development progress reviews with minimal manual setup.

How sher-deploy Works

  1. The user or autonomous developer agent invokes the command within the target directory.
  2. The system checks the directory structure to identify the frontend build toolchain (such as Vite, Next.js, Astro, or CRA).
  3. The skill runs the project's build command or skips this step if instructed, identifying the appropriate build output folder (e.g., dist, build, or out).
  4. Static files are compiled and packaged into a lightweight archive, which is then securely sent to the deployment API.
  5. The CLI outputs the temporary web link directly to stdout and saves it to the host system's clipboard.

sher-deploy Setup

Install the tool globally to configure it for system-wide CLI and agent execution:

npm i -g shersh

Alternatively, you can run the deploy link command on-demand without installing the package globally:

npx shersh link
