What is skills-search?

The skills-search tool is a specialized CLI utility that enables developers to explore the growing ecosystem of agent capabilities without leaving the terminal. It serves as a bridge to the official skills.sh registry, allowing users to query for specific functionalities, view installation metrics, and find the exact source code for various Openclaw Skills.

By providing a streamlined way to browse community-contributed agent tools, skills-search simplifies the process of extending AI agents. Whether you are looking for web design guidelines, database connectors, or social media integrations, this tool ensures you can find and deploy the right Openclaw Skills to enhance your agent's performance and versatility.

skills-search Use Cases

  • Finding specific agent capabilities by name or keyword directly from the terminal.
  • Discovering the most popular Openclaw Skills to see what the community is using.
  • Retrieving installation commands for skills found on the skills.sh registry.
  • Automating the discovery and selection process for agent skill deployment.

How skills-search Works

  1. The user inputs a search query or a popularity flag via the skills-search CLI.
  2. The tool sends a request to the official skills.sh API to retrieve matching metadata.
  3. The registry returns a list of Openclaw Skills, including install counts and source repository information.
  4. Results are formatted and displayed in the terminal, sorted by popularity to ensure quality discovery.
  5. The user can then use the provided installation commands to add the skill to their agent workspace.

To install the search tool within the Clawdbot environment, use the following command:
