What is SM Saver?

SM Saver is an automated agent skill designed to help users curate knowledge from the chaotic flow of social media. Whether you are browsing X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, or general websites, this Openclaw Skills component identifies linked resources, extracts their core meaning, and logs them into a centralized workspace. It eliminates the manual effort of copy-pasting and tab-hoarding by turning transient social posts into a permanent, searchable resource log.

By integrating SM Saver into your workflow, you gain a streamlined way to digest technical threads, news articles, and project repositories. The skill uses specialized tools to fetch content behind shortened URLs and provides concise summaries, ensuring your resources.md file stays clean, organized, and high-value.

SM Saver Use Cases

  • Saving technical tutorials or AI research shared in X/Twitter threads.
  • Logging interesting industry insights or articles found on LinkedIn.
  • Archiving GitHub repositories or documentation pages from direct URLs for later review.
  • Building a personal knowledge base of web resources with automated summarization.

How SM Saver Works

  1. The skill detects the source type by analyzing the provided URL pattern (X/Twitter, LinkedIn, or general URL).
  2. If the source is X/Twitter, it utilizes the xurl tool to extract the tweet body and all expanded resource links.
  3. For LinkedIn or direct URLs, it proceeds to fetch the content directly.
  4. It summarizes each identified resource using the summarize utility or a fallback Python script to extract titles and descriptions.
  5. The skill appends a strictly formatted entry to ~/workspace/resources.md, including the date, source handle, and summarized links.
  6. A confirmation message is returned to the user indicating the number of resources saved.

SM Saver Setup

To get started with this Openclaw Skills entry, ensure you have the necessary binaries installed and the workspace directory ready.

# Ensure the workspace directory exists
mkdir -p ~/workspace

# Install xurl for Twitter extraction
# (Follow specific xurl installation guide for your environment)

The skill is designed to automatically manage the resources.md file within your workspace, so no manual file creation is required.

SM Saver Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data within ~/workspace/resources.md using a chronological markdown structure for easy readability.

Field Description
Date The YYYY-MM-DD timestamp of the entry.
Source Label The author handle (@handle) for X, "LinkedIn", or the domain name for direct URLs.
Snippet A 120-character truncated preview of the original post or tweet.
Resource List An unordered list of titles, URLs, and 80-character summaries.

SM Saver Advanced Features

  • Intelligent Twitter parsing using xurl to expand shortened t.co links while filtering out media references.
  • Multi-tier fallback logic for content extraction, utilizing Python's urllib and re if dedicated summarization tools are missing.
  • Automated domain extraction for direct URLs to provide clean source labeling.
  • Structured append-only logging that ensures no data is overwritten in your workspace.
  • Seamless integration with other Openclaw Skills that can read or process the generated markdown log.
