What is Speakeasy?

Speakeasy provides developers and product teams with a robust suite of tools to streamline the API development lifecycle. By leveraging this integration within Openclaw Skills, users can automate the creation of high-quality SDKs and maintain strict API governance.

The skill bridges the gap between raw OpenAPI specifications and production-ready developer experiences. It allows for seamless interaction with workspace data, including meetings, recordings, and transcripts, ensuring consistency and speed across your entire API ecosystem without the burden of manual credential management.

Speakeasy Use Cases

  • Generating multi-language SDKs from OpenAPI definitions automatically.
  • Creating and managing API governance policies to ensure standard compliance.
  • Automating the capture and management of meeting transcripts and recordings within a workspace.
  • Streamlining the API development lifecycle through AI-driven automation using Openclaw Skills.
  • Discovering and executing API actions via natural language intent.

How Speakeasy Works

  1. Authenticate with the Membrane platform using the CLI to establish a secure session.
  2. Create or ensure a connection to the Speakeasy domain to manage credentials server-side.
  3. Poll the connection state until it reaches a READY status, handling any required user actions or inputs.
  4. Discover available actions by searching for specific intents like querying data or running workflows.
  5. Execute predefined actions or proxy requests directly to the Speakeasy API with managed authentication headers.

Speakeasy Setup

First, install the Membrane CLI globally to begin using Openclaw Skills with Speakeasy:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Next, login to your account specifying your agent type to optimize tooling:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Finally, establish a connection to Speakeasy:

membrane connection ensure "https://www.speakeasyapi.dev/" --json

Speakeasy Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes Speakeasy data around a clear hierarchy within the workspace. Openclaw Skills users can navigate this structure using the following taxonomy:

Entity Description
Workspace The top-level container for all Speakeasy assets and team data.
Meeting Contains session data and associated recordings.
Recording Individual media files linked to specific meetings for review.
Transcript Text-based representations of recordings for analysis and search.
Account User-specific settings, billing, and permission levels.

Speakeasy Advanced Features

  • Automatic credential refresh and authentication management via the Membrane backend.
  • Direct API proxying with built-in header injection for accessing custom endpoints.
  • Natural language action discovery to find the most efficient workflow programmatically.
  • Support for headless environment authentication using manual code verification.
  • Machine-readable JSON output for all commands to facilitate multi-agent chaining and automation.
