What is Zinc Orders?

The Zinc Orders skill enables AI agents to interact directly with the Zinc API to facilitate programmatic e-commerce transactions. By leveraging this integration within Openclaw Skills, developers can build agents that not only find products but also handle the entire checkout process, from providing shipping details to managing asynchronous order fulfillment.

This skill acts as a bridge between high-level agent logic and low-level retail execution. It is essential for building autonomous procurement agents or personal shopping assistants that require cross-retailer compatibility and reliable order lifecycle management without manual intervention.

Zinc Orders Use Cases

  • Automating bulk purchases across different retailers via a single unified API.
  • Building autonomous shopping agents that track order statuses and provide real-time updates to users.
  • Integrating programmatic procurement into internal business workflows or inventory management systems.
  • Creating price-aware ordering systems that respect a set maximum price to ensure budget compliance.

How Zinc Orders Works

  1. The agent receives a request to purchase a specific product URL with specified quantity and variant details.
  2. A POST request is sent to the Zinc API including shipping details and a safety-focused max_price constraint.
  3. Zinc initiates the order process asynchronously, returning a UUID and a pending status immediately.
  4. The agent schedules a polling mechanism or cron job to check the order status after an initial 5-10 minute window.
  5. Once the status reaches a terminal state like order_placed, order_failed, or cancelled, the agent notifies the user through the preferred communication channel.

Zinc Orders Setup

To get started with Zinc Orders in Openclaw Skills, you must first obtain an API key from the Zinc dashboard at app.zinc.com.

# Set your environment variable
export ZINC_API_KEY='your_api_key_here'

Ensure your environment is configured to allow outbound HTTPS requests to api.zinc.com for order execution and status polling.

Zinc Orders Data Schema & Taxonomy

Field Type Description
products Array Objects containing url, quantity, and variant (label/value) details.
shipping_address Object Full address details including state (2-letter) and country (ISO alpha-2).
max_price Integer The maximum allowable price for the order, expressed in cents.
idempotency_key String A unique string (max 36 chars) used to prevent duplicate orders.
status String Order lifecycle state: pending, in_progress, order_placed, order_failed, or cancelled.

Zinc Orders Advanced Features

  • Idempotency support ensures that network retries or duplicate agent turns do not result in multiple charges.
  • Asynchronous status tracking via scheduled cron jobs allows for reliable delivery notifications without blocking the agent turn.
  • Multi-account support via retailer_credentials_id for managing orders across different retailer logins.
  • Custom metadata storage for attaching internal purchase order numbers or tracking IDs to transactions.
  • Safety-first architecture that prioritizes user confirmation and price validation before spending real currency.
