What is Uploader?

The Uploader skill is a specialized tool within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem designed to bridge the gap between local file systems and cloud accessibility. It enables AI agents and developers to programmatically upload images, audio, video, and documents to the Astron Claw Bridge Server, immediately returning a publicly accessible URL.

By leveraging this skill, users can transform local assets into web-ready resources. This is particularly valuable for workflows that require embedding media into markdown files, sharing documents with external users, or providing persistent links for generated content during an automated session.

Uploader Use Cases

  • Generating public download links for local images, videos, or documents.
  • Obtaining external URLs for embedding assets into web pages or markdown reports.
  • Sharing AI-generated files with users via a hosted link.
  • Automating cloud backups of specific local assets during a development workflow.

How Uploader Works

  1. The user provides a file path and an optional session ID to the Openclaw Skills uploader script.
  2. The script identifies the host and authentication token automatically from the local configuration file.
  3. The file is transmitted via a secure POST request to the Astron Claw Bridge Server.
  4. The server processes the file and generates a unique download path.
  5. The skill returns a structured response containing the file name, MIME type, size, and the final public download URL.

Uploader Setup

First, ensure you have the required dependencies installed:

pip install requests

Ensure your configuration is present at /root/.openclaw/openclaw.json as the skill reads the host and token from this location automatically. To perform a basic upload, use the following command:

python3 scripts/upload_media.py '/path/to/your/file.png'

Uploader Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill provides a structured output to stdout upon a successful upload. The data includes the following metadata taxonomy:

Field Description
fileName The original name of the uploaded file
mimeType The detected media type (e.g., image/png, application/pdf)
fileSize The size of the file in bytes
sessionId The unique identifier for the upload session
downloadUrl The public HTTP URL for accessing the file

Uploader Advanced Features

  • Session-based tracking: Use the --session-id flag to group uploads under specific identifiers.
  • Automated configuration: Zero-config runtime by auto-reading credentials from the .openclaw directory.
  • Universal MIME support: Handles everything from basic text files to complex binary media formats.
  • AI-Agent Ready: Designed for seamless integration into larger Openclaw Skills workflows where file persistence is required.
