What is VIA Agentic Commerce?

VIA Agentic Commerce is a dedicated integration designed for autonomous agents operating on the decentralized VIA agentic-commerce network. In this ecosystem, every seller exposes a specialized Sales Agent over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), while buyers utilize Buying Agents to automatically discover, negotiate, and settle transactions. Payments are executed securely using USDC on the Base Layer-2 network.

By leveraging this capability, developers can enrich their Openclaw Skills portfolio with robust transacting features. Agents can autonomously fulfill requests like sourcing wholesale suppliers, comparing product prices side-by-side, analyzing real-time B2B buyer demand, and registering independent Web3 storefronts without requiring human intervention.

VIA Agentic Commerce Use Cases

  • Autonomous Product Sourcing: Search the decentralized network to find, compare, and display products matching specific buyer criteria.
  • Agent-to-Agent Transactions: Connect directly to merchant agents to negotiate pricing, request custom quotes, and finalize agreements.
  • B2B Outbound Matching: Scan active buyer demand feeds to match available products with open purchase briefs, initiating automated outreach.
  • Store Registration and Deployment: Setup programmatic stores with custom USDC payout wallets on Base, utilizing ERC-8004 identity protocols.

How VIA Agentic Commerce Works

  1. Discovery & Alignment: The agent begins by using find_seller or submit_intent to lookup matching products, brands, or buyers.
  2. Comparative Review: If multiple matching options exist, the agent presents a detailed comparison to the operator instead of selecting blindly.
  3. Agent Handshake: The agent resolves the chosen merchant's endpoint via seller_mcp_url and establishes a direct peer-to-peer MCP connection.
  4. Quoting: The agent queries get_product or requests custom pricing structure quotes based on user configuration options.
  5. Secure USDC Settlement: Following explicit price confirmation and compliance check against the operator's delegation limits, the agent processes the purchase on Base.

VIA Agentic Commerce Setup

To activate this capability, you must register the VIA public MCP server configuration in your openclaw.json setup.

Execute the following command to automatically update your workspace configuration:

openclaw config set mcp.servers.via '{"url":"https://app.getvia.xyz/mcp","transport":"streamable-http"}'

Once executed, restart your gateway daemon. The network-wide commerce tools will immediately integrate into your active Openclaw Skills ecosystem.

VIA Agentic Commerce Data Schema & Taxonomy

Unified Network Schemas

The VIA commerce skill leverages structured payloads for secure discovery and store setup. Below are the key schemas:

Tool Primary Parameters Response Structure Purpose
find_seller query (string) results (Array of items with page_url, price_usdc, mcp_ref) Network-wide product discovery
submit_intent brief (string) seller, price, page_url, mcp_url High-fidelity intent matchmaking
find_buyers query (string) intent (category, budget, requirements), mcp_url Reverse lookup of active buyer demands
register_store store_name, kind, payout_wallet, email, password status (pending, approved, rejected) Self-sovereign store onboarding

Note: Payments require direct integration with the seller's MCP endpoint, utilizing ERC-8004 identity protocols for wallet resolution.

VIA Agentic Commerce Advanced Features

  • Decentralized Escrow Integration: Standardized checkout workflows natively settled with USDC on the Base network using x402 protocols.
  • Autonomous Store Management: Automated monitoring of store verification statuses, transition logs, and active ERC-8004 identity tokens.
  • Dynamic Pitching & Negotiation: Capabilities allowing seller agents to pitch inventory directly to matching buyer-agent briefs.
  • Granular Delegation Controls: Safe transaction routing that strictly adheres to user-defined budget caps and authorization guardrails.
