What is Trade Manager?

Trade Manager is a powerful automation skill designed to work alongside the Polymarket skill to manage market exits programmatically. By incorporating this tool from the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, traders can set sophisticated rules that execute automatically based on real-time price movements. The skill runs within the Vincent backend, ensuring that all trades are subject to existing security policies and spending limits while providing 24/7 monitoring without manual intervention.

This skill is essential for anyone trading on Polymarket who needs to protect their capital or lock in gains. It utilizes a combination of WebSocket feeds and HTTP polling to track prices with high precision. Whether you are managing a single position or a diverse portfolio, Trade Manager provides the infrastructure needed for disciplined, rule-based trading execution.

Trade Manager Use Cases

  • Automatically selling a position if the market price drops below a specific threshold to minimize losses.
  • Setting target prices to lock in profits once a prediction market outcome reaches a certain value.
  • Implementing trailing stops that follow price increases to capture maximum upside while protecting against sudden reversals.
  • Managing multiple Polymarket rules simultaneously through a unified CLI interface.
  • Auditing trade execution history through a detailed event log for every automated action.

How Trade Manager Works

  1. The user places a bet on Polymarket to acquire outcome tokens.
  2. A trading rule (Stop-Loss, Take-Profit, or Trailing Stop) is created via the CLI targeting a specific market and token ID.
  3. The Trade Manager background worker monitors the price of the token in real-time using Polymarket WebSocket feeds.
  4. For trailing stops, the system recalculates the trigger price dynamically as the market price rises.
  5. When the price condition is met, the rule state is atomically updated to TRIGGERED to ensure single execution.
  6. The skill triggers a market sell order through the secure trading pipeline, adhering to all pre-configured spending limits and approvals.

Trade Manager Setup

To begin using Trade Manager, ensure you have the CLI installed and verify the worker health:

npx @vincentai/cli@latest trade-manager health

Check your current worker status and active rules:

npx @vincentai/cli@latest trade-manager status --key-id <YOUR_KEY_ID>

Create a basic stop-loss rule for a specific market:

npx @vincentai/cli@latest trade-manager create-rule --key-id <KEY_ID> --market-id <MARKET_ID> --token-id <TOKEN_ID> --rule-type STOP_LOSS --trigger-price 0.40

Trade Manager Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Trade Manager skill organizes its operations through rules and detailed event logs stored in the backend database.

Object Description
Rule Contains market-id, token-id, rule-type (STOP_LOSS, TAKE_PROFIT, TRAILING_STOP), and trigger-price.
Status Tracks the lifecycle of a rule: ACTIVE, TRIGGERED, PENDING_APPROVAL, CANCELED, or FAILED.
Event Log A chronological record of evaluations, price updates, and execution outcomes (e.g., RULE_EVALUATED, ACTION_EXECUTED).
Position Cache Real-time monitoring data including current price and source (WebSocket vs Polling).

Trade Manager Advanced Features

  • Dynamic Trailing Stops: Automatically adjusts the exit price upward based on a defined percentage as the market moves in your favor.
  • Circuit Breaker Logic: Automatically pauses the monitoring worker after multiple API failures to prevent execution errors during market volatility.
  • Multi-Step Policy Enforcement: Ensures automated trades respect all Vincent backend policies, including human-in-the-loop approvals if required.
  • WebSocket Fallback: Seamlessly switches between high-speed WebSocket monitoring and standard HTTP polling to maintain uptime.
  • Full Audit Trail: Provides a granular event log for every rule evaluation, including the exact price and timestamp of the trigger.
