What is WaveMaker?

WaveMaker is a robust low-code platform designed to accelerate the development of web and mobile applications through drag-and-drop interfaces and pre-built components. This skill empowers AI agents to interact directly with the WaveMaker ecosystem, managing everything from project assets and workspaces to databases and API services. By utilizing Openclaw Skills, developers can bridge the gap between AI-driven logic and low-code app construction without the overhead of manual authentication management.

The integration relies on the Membrane CLI, which provides a secure layer for handling credentials, session refreshes, and API proxying. This ensures that your AI agent can focus on high-level integration logic and data orchestration while the underlying Openclaw Skills framework handles the technical complexities of connecting to the WaveMaker platform.

WaveMaker Use Cases

  • Automating the management of data records and application workflows within WaveMaker projects.
  • Triggering Git operations, deployments, and environment settings via AI-driven commands.
  • Discovering and executing platform-specific actions like managing prefabs, modules, and themes.
  • Interacting with WaveMaker APIs and databases using natural language intent discovery.
  • Streamlining development tasks for teams using Openclaw Skills to maintain consistency across low-code environments.

How WaveMaker Works

  1. The AI agent installs and authenticates the Membrane CLI using a specific client identity.
  2. A connection is established to the WaveMaker domain, triggering an automated or manual OAuth flow.
  3. The agent monitors the connection state, waiting for a READY status before proceeding with operations.
  4. Using natural language intent, the agent searches for specific actions related to the user's request (e.g., "list projects" or "update record").
  5. The agent executes the chosen action or sends a direct proxy request to the WaveMaker API, with Openclaw Skills automatically handling headers and authentication.

WaveMaker Setup

First, install the Membrane CLI to enable communication between your agent and the platform:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate the CLI using the relevant agent type to optimize tooling performance:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a secure connection to your WaveMaker instance:

membrane connection ensure "https://www.wavemaker.com/" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, poll for readiness:

npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json

WaveMaker Data Schema & Taxonomy

The WaveMaker skill organizes data into several core entities and utilizes a structured action schema for integration. Openclaw Skills leverage these schemas to ensure precise data mapping.

Entity Description
Project The top-level container for all application assets including pages and services.
Workspace The environment where developers manage multiple app instances.
Service Definitions for APIs and backend logic used within the application.
Variable Data objects used to manage state and logic flow in WaveMaker apps.
Metadata Information regarding users, roles, and security settings.

All actions discovered via the CLI include an inputSchema for parameter validation and an outputSchema for structured response handling.

WaveMaker Advanced Features

  • Server-side credential management that eliminates the need for local API key storage.
  • Natural language action discovery that finds pre-built functions for complex tasks like pagination and field mapping.
  • Direct API proxy requests that automatically inject necessary authentication headers and handle token refreshes.
  • Support for headless environments through manual authorization code completion.
  • Comprehensive monitoring of connection states including specific instructions for required client actions when using Openclaw Skills.
