What is Webex Collaboration?

The Webex integration is an essential addition to the collection of Openclaw Skills, allowing AI agents to seamlessly interact with Webex APIs. Powered by ClawLink, this integration eliminates the hassle of manually configuring OAuth credentials and API keys. Agents can read, write, and manage team chats, room details, membership statuses, and webhooks entirely within the OpenClaw environment.

With managed OAuth flows, your OpenClaw agent gains the ability to serve as a collaborative workspace assistant. Whether it's reporting deployment statuses, organizing internal communication channels, or dynamically archiving team spaces, this skill ensures secure and standardized messaging and team operations.

Webex Collaboration Use Cases

  • Automating Deployment & Alert Notifications: Send markdown-formatted messages to dedicated developer Webex rooms when build pipelines complete or errors occur.
  • Dynamic Team and Room Management: Create rooms and organize them into teams dynamically for incoming projects or support incidents.
  • Workspace Membership Administration: Add or remove members from spaces based on project roster updates or role shifts.
  • Real-time Event Webhook Syncing: Create and list webhooks to listen for Webex events and feed updates back into the AI agent workflow.

How Webex Collaboration Works

  1. User Request: The user initiates a request (e.g., asking the AI agent to send a message or list rooms).
  2. Connection Resolution: ClawLink securely retrieves the managed OAuth credentials for Webex without exposing keys to the agent.
  3. API Execution: The agent triggers the appropriate Webex tool (like webex_messaging_create_message), calling the official Webex API.
  4. Security Enforcement: Safe read operations run directly, while write or delete actions trigger explicit confirmation flows.
  5. Response Delivery: The Webex API results are processed, formatting the confirmation or returned data for the user.

Webex Collaboration Setup

To enable this among your Openclaw Skills, install the ClawLink plugin and authorize your Webex account:

1. Install the Plugin

Run the following commands in your CLI to install the integration:

openclaw plugins install clawhub:clawlink-plugin
openclaw config set tools.alsoAllow '[\"clawlink-plugin\"]' --strict-json
openclaw gateway restart

2. Pair and Authenticate

{
  \"tool\": \"clawlink_list_integrations\"
}

Webex Collaboration Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Webex integration interacts with standardized data objects returned directly from the Webex API. The primary entities are outlined below:

Primary Entity Schemas

Entity Key Identifier Common Fields Description
Room (Space) roomId title, type, isLocked, teamId Represents a messaging space.
Message id roomId, text, markdown, files, personEmail Contains the text or rich media sent to rooms.
Membership id roomId, personId, personEmail, isModerator Defines a user's role and state inside a room.
Team id name, created Groups related rooms and users together.
Webhook id name, targetUrl, resource, event Defines event triggers for real-time external alerts.

Webex Collaboration Advanced Features

  • Managed OAuth Flow: Removes the complexity of managing developer portals, redirect URIs, and token refresh logic.
  • Granular Execution Security: Distinguishes between safe read operations and sensitive write/delete operations, enforcing manual confirmation steps for critical mutations.
  • Rich Text & Media Messaging: Supports both plain text and full Markdown rendering alongside file attachments directly through webex_messaging_create_message.
  • Automated Webhook Management: Programmatically creates, lists, and tears down webhooks to maintain synchronized real-time collaboration workflows.
  • Team-Level Controls: Provides comprehensive tools for multi-room management, enabling bulk membership updates and structured team indexing.
