What is Weight Tracker?

Weight Tracker is a sophisticated utility designed for Openclaw Skills that enables users to monitor their fitness journey through automated data logging and visualization. By simply telling the AI their daily weight, the system updates a local database and generates a dynamic HTML-based dashboard. This tool is built to be lightweight and privacy-centric, running entirely on the user's local machine while providing high-quality visual feedback on weight loss trends.

Supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux, the skill bridges the gap between simple data entry and professional-grade analytics. It leverages a local HTTP server to render interactive charts, allowing users to see their progress relative to their starting point and ultimate goals. With Openclaw Skills integration, the entire process—from recording data to capturing progress screenshots—is handled through natural language and automated workflows.

Weight Tracker Use Cases

  • Daily weight logging and fitness habit tracking
  • Visualizing long-term weight loss trends against target goals
  • Generating progress reports and screenshots for personal motivation
  • Exporting health data for use in other analytical applications
  • Managing weight goals in both English and Chinese language environments

How Weight Tracker Works

  1. The AI receives a natural language prompt such as "Record my weight" and identifies the numeric value provided.
  2. The skill parses the local weight_history.json file to check for existing entries on the current date.
  3. It updates the weight value or appends a new record before saving the file back to the local directory.
  4. A local Python-based HTTP server is initialized on a configurable port to host the visualization dashboard.
  5. The browser tool opens the local dashboard, adjusts the viewport for optimal viewing, and captures a high-resolution screenshot.
  6. The HTTP server is safely terminated once the data has been visualized and confirmed by the user.

Weight Tracker Setup

To initialize the Weight Tracker within the Openclaw Skills environment, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the assets directory:
cd <skill-directory>/assets
  1. Grant execution permissions to the setup script:
chmod +x setup.sh
  1. Run the interactive configuration guide:
./setup.sh

This guide will automatically detect your operating system and help you configure your target weight, date range, preferred language (en/zh), and local server port.

Weight Tracker Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill manages information using two primary JSON files and a visualization template:

File Description Key Fields
config.json System settings and user goals startWeight, targetWeight, language, port
weight_history.json Chronological log of weight entries date (YYYY-MM-DD), weight
jianfei.html Frontend dashboard Uses Fetch API to render JSON data into charts
setup.sh Cross-platform initializer Detects OS-specific date and network commands

Weight Tracker Advanced Features

  • Intelligent data conflict resolution: Automatically updates existing same-day records instead of duplicating.
  • Cross-platform server management: Automated process killing for macOS (lsof), Linux (fuser), and Windows (netstat) to prevent port conflicts.
  • Data Portability: Press the 'W' key while viewing the dashboard to instantly export the entire dataset as a JSON file.
  • Dynamic Viewport Optimization: AI-driven browser adjustment to 110% of the content area (495 x 824) for perfect progress screenshots.
  • Localization: Seamless switching between English and Chinese interfaces via simple configuration changes.
