Who is this best for?

  • Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) and BDRs who need to find common departmental email addresses.

  • Growth marketers performing large-scale lead generation and list cleaning.

  • Data analysts requiring validation of bulk domain contact information.

  • Any n8n user looking for efficient, ready-made n8n templates for data processing.

Overview

Finding reliable, generic email addresses (such as [email protected] or [email protected]) across a large set of domains can be highly manual. This specialized n8n workflow solves this by automating the creation and verification process. By leveraging the power of n8n and the EmailListVerify service, the workflow fetches lists of email roots and target domains from Google Sheets, combines them into thousands of candidates, and uses an HTTP Request n8n node to check the validation status of each candidate. This provides a scalable, efficient method for ensuring data hygiene and maximizing outreach effectiveness, utilizing core n8n node logic for data manipulation.

How it Works

The process begins when the manual n8n trigger is executed. The n8n workflow then performs the following steps:

  1. Input Collection: The workflow simultaneously uses two Google Sheets n8n node instances to retrieve two separate lists: a list of target domains (e.g., google.com) and a list of generic email roots (e.g., contact, sales).

  2. Candidate Generation: A Merge n8n node is used in 'combine' mode to cross-product the two input lists. This creates every possible email candidate (e.g., [email protected], [email protected]).

  3. Verification: An HTTP Request n8n node is executed, iterating through every created email candidate. It calls the EmailListVerify API, passing the constructed email address as a query parameter for real-time validation.

  4. Result Combination: A final Merge n8n node combines the original input data (the root and domain) with the validation status received from the EmailListVerify API call.

  5. Output: The last n8n node, a Google Sheets node, appends the results—the full email address and its corresponding validation status—to a designated output spreadsheet. This completes the entire n8n workflow cycle, providing verified leads.

Installation Guide

To deploy this powerful n8n workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided JSON and import it directly into your n8n instance as a new n8n workflow.

  2. Google Sheets Setup: Make a copy of the required Google Sheets template provided in the sticky note comments.

  3. Configure Input/Output Sheets: For the Google Sheets n8n node 'Get list of domain', 'Get list of email root', and 'Save results', ensure the credentials are set up and the Document IDs and Sheet Names are updated to point to your copy of the input and output spreadsheets.

  4. EmailListVerify API Key: Locate the 'Use EmailListVerify API to check if email is valid' HTTP Request n8n node. You must set up a 'Query Auth' credential using your EmailListVerify API key. The documentation specifically mentions adding the key to the third step of the n8n template.

  5. Execution: Once credentials and sheet connections are updated, manually click 'Execute workflow' or set a suitable n8n trigger (like a Cron trigger for scheduled checks).

Node Details

When clicking ‘Execute workflow’ (Manual Trigger n8n trigger): Initiates the entire n8n workflow manually. Ideal for ad-hoc batch processing.
Get list of domain & Get list of email root (Google Sheets n8n node): These two nodes fetch input data from two different tabs of the linked spreadsheet, pulling the lists of domains and generic prefixes respectively.
Create email candidates (Merge n8n node): Essential for data structure, this node performs a Cartesian product, combining every domain input with every email root input to maximize the number of candidates checked.
Use EmailListVerify API to check if email is valid (HTTP Request n8n node): This core action node executes the verification API call. Key Configuration: Uses an expression (={{ $json.root }}@{{ $json.domain }}) to dynamically construct the email address for verification.
Combine results (Merge n8n node): Merges the original input data stream with the JSON output (status data) from the EmailListVerify API call, ensuring all required fields are present before saving.
Save results (Google Sheets n8n node): The final step of the n8n workflow. Key Configuration: Uses column definitions and expressions to map the combined data (Email and Status) to the output spreadsheet using the 'Append' operation.
