What is Placed?

Placed is a powerful integration for the Placed career platform, designed to streamline the entire job-seeking lifecycle. By leveraging Openclaw Skills, developers and job seekers can access professional resume building, ATS optimization, and mock interview coaching directly through a unified interface. It serves as an all-in-one career assistant that bridges the gap between raw talent and professional presentation.

This skill eliminates the need for a standalone MCP server by calling the Placed API directly. It provides a technical yet accessible way to manage professional identities, research market salaries, and keep application pipelines organized. Whether you are generating a tailored cover letter or practicing STAR-method behavioral responses, this Openclaw Skills powerhouse provides the necessary tools to succeed in competitive job markets.

Placed Use Cases

  • Creating and managing professional resumes using over 37 high-quality templates.
  • Optimizing resumes for specific job descriptions to bypass ATS filters.
  • Conducting mock interviews with AI-driven feedback for technical and behavioral roles.
  • Tracking job applications and managing the hiring pipeline with detailed analytics.
  • Generating tailored cover letters and LinkedIn profile optimizations.

How Placed Works

  1. The skill authenticates with the Placed platform using a secure API key stored in local credentials.
  2. When a specific career task is requested, the skill formats a JSON-RPC 2.0 request containing the specific tool name and arguments.
  3. A POST request is dispatched to the Placed API endpoint (https://placed.exidian.tech/api/mcp).
  4. The API processes the request using advanced LLMs to generate resumes, coaching feedback, or tracking data.
  5. The skill parses the resulting JSON response and presents the actionable career data or document to the user.

Placed Setup

First, obtain your API key from the Placed settings dashboard. Then, configure your environment:

mkdir -p "$HOME/.config/placed"
echo "export PLACED_API_KEY=<your_key>" > "$HOME/.config/placed/credentials"
source "$HOME/.config/placed/credentials"

The Openclaw Skills integration will automatically check for this key to authenticate your requests.

Placed Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill interacts with the Placed API using a standardized JSON-RPC structure. Below is the organization of data interactions:

Component Description
Authentication Bearer Token via PLACED_API_KEY
Request Format JSON-RPC 2.0 (method: tools/call)
Tools resume-builder, interview-coach, career-tools, resume-optimizer, job-tracker
Output Structured JSON containing text, templates, or tracking status

Placed Advanced Features

  • Direct API integration bypassing the need for local MCP server overhead.
  • Support for 37+ professional resume templates via the resume-builder tool.
  • STAR method coaching specifically designed for behavioral interview mastery.
  • Real-time ATS compatibility scoring and optimization suggestions.
  • Career pipeline analytics for tracking job application conversion rates.
