What is PerformYard?

PerformYard is a dedicated performance management system that enables organizations to track employee goals, conduct formal performance reviews, and facilitate continuous feedback loops. By utilizing this skill within Openclaw Skills, developers can bridge the gap between AI agents and HR data, allowing for automated management of employee development cycles.

This integration is built on the Membrane framework, which simplifies the developer experience by handling complex authentication, credential refreshing, and API connectivity. This ensures that your agent can focus on executing logic rather than managing auth plumbing.

PerformYard Use Cases

  • Automating the creation and tracking of employee goals and tasks.
  • Programmatically triggering performance review cycles for specific departments.
  • Collecting and submitting peer recognition or feedback via AI-driven chat interfaces.
  • Exporting employee performance data for custom reporting or data analytics.
  • Managing and distributing employee form templates automatically.

How PerformYard Works

  1. The AI agent initializes a secure session using the Membrane CLI to handle identity and permissions.
  2. A connection is established to the PerformYard domain, triggering a secure OAuth or credential-based handshake.
  3. The agent uses natural language intent searching to discover available HR actions (e.g., listing reviews or updating goals).
  4. Membrane manages the server-side authentication headers and transparently refreshes tokens as needed.
  5. Structured data is returned to the agent, enabling it to perform complex HR tasks or provide insights back to the user.

PerformYard Setup

First, install the necessary CLI to manage your Openclaw Skills connections:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Next, authenticate and connect your PerformYard account:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw
membrane connection ensure "https://performyard.com" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, poll for readiness:

membrane connection get <connection_id> --wait --json

PerformYard Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes PerformYard data into several key entities to maintain a clear metadata taxonomy:

Entity Description
Employee Core user records, roles, and manager associations.
Review Cycle Schedules and phases for organizational performance assessments.
Goal Target metrics, deadlines, and progress updates for staff members.
Form Structured data entries for reviews, self-assessments, and surveys.
Recognition Records of peer feedback and employee achievements.
Task Actionable items assigned within the performance management workflow.

PerformYard Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Action Discovery: Find the correct API endpoint by describing your intent instead of mapping raw URLs.
  • Transparent Proxy Requests: Use the membrane request command to hit any PerformYard API endpoint while the skill handles auth and base URLs automatically.
  • Headless Auth Support: Seamlessly authenticate in remote or CI/CD environments using manual code completion.
  • Multi-Agent Compatibility: Tailor tooling output specifically for different agent harnesses like Claude, Warp, or Windsurf.
