🖥️Performance Comparison of Radeon RX 5700 XT and GeForce RTX 2060 Super

Welcome back to Harbor Unboxed! Today, we will revisit the battle between two popular current-generation GPUs: the Radeon RX 5700 XT and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super. We have received multiple requests for this update, and since we are currently in a quiet period, it's the perfect time to do it.

Introduction

It has been over half a year since we last compared these two GPUs, and during this time, there have been numerous driver updates, Game updates, and even new game releases. The pricing of both GPUs remains relatively unchanged, with the RTX 2060 Super priced at $400 USD and the 5700 XT also available for around $400 USD.

Price Comparison of Radeon RX 5700 XT and GeForce RTX 2060 Super

Currently, the Radeon GPU can be acquired for a slightly lower price, with some models priced at $380 USD and even under $410 USD. The slight difference in pricing could be due to the need for AMD to be more aggressive in pricing, considering the previous stigma surrounding their drivers.

Driver development has become a key focal point for AMD, and they have made numerous updates over the past few months to address stability issues. Although AMD's drivers have significantly improved, it's essential to revisit this comparison to assess the current performance of both GPUs.

Performance Comparison in Different Games

For testing, we have selected 35 games, including some titles that were not tested previously. We will take a closer look at the results for about a dozen games and provide a comprehensive performance breakdown for all 35 games. Testing was conducted using our Intel Core i9-9900K CPU clocked at 5GHz with 16GB DDR4-3400 RAM. The focus of this discussion will be on the 1440p resolution.

👉 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the Radeon RX 5700 XT outperformed the GeForce RTX 2060 Super by almost 20% at 1440p. However, the NVIDIA GPU still delivered acceptable performance. For those using 144Hz monitors, the 5700 XT will be the better choice due to its higher frame rates and slightly lower price.

👉 Ghost Recon Breakpoint

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the 5700 XT showed a significant advantage, being 60% faster than the 2060 Super at 1440p. This allowed the Radeon GPU to push past the 60 FPS barrier, providing a smoother gaming experience.

👉 Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Both GPUs showed improvements in Shadow of the Tomb Raider since the original tests. The 5700 XT had a 12% performance boost at 1440p, while the 2060 Super was only 4% faster. Overall, the 5700 XT is now 13% faster on average at 1440p.

👉 Tom Clancy's The Division 2

In Tom Clancy's The Division 2, the Radeon GPU had a performance advantage at both tested resolutions. It beat the 2060 Super by a 12% margin at 1440p and maintained over 60 FPS throughout the benchmark.

👉 Control

Control is an NVIDIA-sponsored title optimized for GeForce GPUs. Despite the optimizations, the 2060 Super still couldn't match the 5700 XT's performance. The Radeon GPU was 8% faster at 1440p and even faster at 1080p.
