What is Charios?

Charios is an AI-powered 2D game character animation tool that operates entirely in the browser. It allows users to transform static PNG images into fully rigged and animated characters. The platform features auto-layering technology that detects 'alpha islands' to separate body parts, an easy rigging system with joint magnets, and a massive library of humanoid mocap animations. Users can preview deformations in real-time, play-test their characters with keyboard controls (WASD), and export their work directly to major game engines like Unity and Godot. It is designed to bridge the gap between static 2D art and functional game assets without the need for complex software installations.

How to use Charios?

Users start by dropping a character image (PNG) into the browser editor. The AI automatically handles layering. Next, users rig the character by dragging layers to joints and snapping them to bones. Once rigged, users can apply animations from the built-in mocap library or upload their own .bvh files. Finally, the character can be play-tested using keyboard controls and exported as a Unity prefab, Godot scene, or JSON skeleton.
